I saw some quite biased posters the other day. The captions are what I enjoyed so here they are: Be afraid! Because Paranoia is Patriotic!.
War? Pollution? Outsourcing? Republicans call it Good Business!
It looks as though the cable channels are not going to suspend reruns of Law and Order despite the appearance of Fred Thompson. This may get quite amusing if Fred continues to rise in the polls. Would GOPPERS really nominate Arthur Branch for President? Weird group, but hell, paving blocks, the road, and such.
Speaking of polls, the ever-lazy Fred Thompson is smoking. The latest NBC / Wall Street Journal poll has Fred at 26% and the front runner Giuliani at 36%. Man, weird group those GOPPERS.
Fred is even a bit lazy when it comes to church, it seems that "Former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson reportedly told a South Carolina campaign audience Sept. 10 that he is not a member or regular worshiper at any church near his home in the upscale Washington suburb of McLean, Va. He also said he would not be comfortable discussing his faith regularly on the campaign trail." Isn’t the GOPPER base sort of, kind of into a Christian go to church and testify, testify, testify? For some reason this reminds me of Tom Lehrer’s "Vatican Rag." Again GOPPERS are weird.
You don’t still believe that liberal media bullshit do you? If you do, and are partial to seeing the op-ed pages as larded with liberal, elite, commie, pinko, un-American commentary then you ought to take a peek at a study Media Matters has just published . The op-ed pages are larded, but with conservative fat. They say: "the results show that in paper after paper, state after state, and region after region, conservative syndicated columnists get more space than their progressive counterparts. As Editor & Publisher paraphrased one syndicate executive noting, ‘U.S. dailies run more conservative than liberal columns, but some are willing to consider liberal voices’"
Has the whole country come down with a case of Murdoch Fair and Balanced syndrome?
Before going after reaction to BushCo’s meaningless speech on Iraq tonight, we ought to take the time to ask what did the putz in chief promised us back in January of this year. Editor and Publisher comes to our assistance.
If Utah continues to stay in the news, then it must be polygamy. Yep, Warren Jeffs trial opened.
If you are inclined to think Rudy is a good guy and ought to be the GOPPER nominee, then you must have been hanging out in Area 51 for a bit too long. For example, if I think Petraeus is telling th truth, but you do not, then it is obvious that you are a character assassin. Right? Rudy disses Hillary over Petraeus, wow! If GOPPERS like Fred, what on earth posses them to like Rudy even more? Ooops I forgot: FEAR! 9/11! AL QUAIDA! GWOT! INDIGESTION! FEAR! And an irrational hated of people who do not think in the same way that they think.
When they are yammering with their home crowd why do candidates keep on stating the obvious? Obama let some Iowans know that the Democrats just do not have the votes to force a timetable for getting our tushies out of Iraq. Is this the new page, or is it hope , or maybe it’s change? Maybe the Senate is not the best place to find candidates, because the experience obtained there is minimal.
What the hell is a Nevada Caucus? Is it like Keno?
BushCo made his Iraq war speech last night. This was his eighth prime time adventure in Iraq war gibberish. Now we have a new way forward through a return on success? Huh? Is was about 18 minutes long. New info? None. It is, as it has always been, stay in Iraq and Pass the War to 44. The speech was probably just enough to keep the running dogs of the GOP in line. He keeps his ability to have his veto power sustained. The 60 votes in the Senate was the real subject of his speech. No matter how he tried to pass the responsibility to others such as Petraeus, this has been, is, and will remain BushCo’s war. Does any reasonable person link "success" and "Iraq" in the same sentence?
Remember how Petrocker avoided numbers in their Congressional appearances? Bush used numbers in reference to the December drawdown, but types of units for the balance of the force reduction we will see by July ‘08. Why? Well before BushCo wasted the nations’s time the
White House "cautioned that the number of U.S. soldiers withdrawn by next summer could be lower than the 30,000-troop figure widely reported in the media this week." Smoke and mirrors?
When it comes to a President we are too damned polite. Instead of saying he lied, we say he mis-spoke, or had different facts or some other nonsense. Bullshit. BushCo did not tell the truth about Iraq. He lied. BushCo told the gullible rubes what they needed in order for him to be able to war on. Start your fact check adventure with the WaPo: The President Asserted Progress on Security and Political Issues. Recent Reports Weren't Often So Upbeat.
Can you guess what the "Joint Unmanned Center of Excellence and the Joint Unmanned Material Review Board" is in charge of and what agency is upset? Read this.
What is Congressional Directed Spending? It is a long phrase that is used instead of the word "earmarks." A billion for bridges and a couple of billion for earmarks, a.k.a., Congressional Directed Spending. Are there over terms used to talk about pork? Oink, oink.
The cost of pasta in Italy has shot up. So as folks say basta to pasta they will pay more for German beer. And in the U.S. food costs will also increase. Why? If you plant more acres to bio-fuel crops, there will be less grain for pasta and beer. If corn goes to make cars putt-putt along there will be less to tummy yummy stuff at higher cost. What was that book "Why Things Bite Back?"
