What does it take for a Congressman to develop a spine and say something cogent? Oh, a massive economic crisis that the government is not sure about being able to fix and a change of party in power.
Barney Frank has discovered corporate jets. If a company gets bailout money, then the jets have to go first. This is all in the future of course. The jets are just one restriction amongst others. Where was this compelling logic a few weeks ago?
Hmm, it's more likely that Mr. Frank's staff have now confirmed he does not recevie any significant donations or redress large grievances for any firms in need of a future bailout that also use private jets (note, other aircraft are okay). Research does take time. Focus groups takes time. Polls take time. Now, it's time to get tough. Suggestions for other restrictions?

This is similar to President Bush's bleats that he was justified in doing a fly-by on Katrina even thought the photo op went awry, but, landing in Baton Rouge would have taken the oh-so-uncorrupt policepeople away from their jobs of protecting the poor poor about whom we are going to take historic and significantly impactful action.
